Wrapping up TX work & setting out for summer travel

Talon Trails just finished the work at Steiner Ranch in Austin and at Carl Barton Jr. Park in Conroe north of Houston. The work in Conroe consisted of designing and building over 10,000 feet of natural surface trail in the land that couldn’t be used for baseball and soccer fields…in other words the drainages to Little Caney Creek. We also built three bridges and armored three sections that proved to hold water after rain.

Monday we wrap up a few hours of maintenance work on a neighborhood trail system on Barton Creek, where we contracted with the HOA to maintain their trails doing monthly work. After that we drive out Hamilton Pool Road to meet with a private land owner to assess their acreage for potential trail.

Next week we head for the IMBA Summit in Park City, UT. This consists of four days of mountain biking advocacy, riding, and socializing. From there we have nine days to get to the Trek Factory in WI where we’re working for a couple of weeks on their test track. After that we head to an Army Corps of Engineers’ lake where 30 miles of trail will be under construction by an IMBA coalition of trail builders. We’re subcontracted to run equipment to do the finish work. Dewayne will work four weeks there before heading back to Trek where he becomes the Trek Trails Manager. Ryan and Susan work in PA for three weeks before taking some much deserved and needed time off.
